Purity Testing
In today’s aloe vera industry, product authenticity and purity have become vital concerns. Many products marketed as “pure aloe” are often diluted with fillers like maltodextrin, compromising quality and misleading consumers.
At Wellness Laboratories, we take a firm stand against adulteration — promoting transparency, truth, and science-backed verification at every stage of our process.
As part of our commitment to education and integrity, we maintain a dedicated team of scientists and chemists who offer complimentary aloe purity testing. Customers can send us blind samples of any aloe-based product, and within 10 business days, we provide a complete analytical report detailing its authenticity and nutrient profile.
Our Testing Methods :
1. Boehringer Manheim Starch Test
Recognized by the International Aloe Science Council (IASC), this test verifies whether a product meets the minimum aloe content required for certification. It precisely identifies the percentage of maltodextrin or other fillers, ensuring full transparency in product labeling and purity.
2. Dry Down and Refractometer Tests
Used together, these methods measure the solid content within a product sample. The Dry Down Test removes liquid, isolating solid compounds, while the Refractometer Test analyzes those solids to determine if they originate from aloe or other substances.
This process helps identify non-natural additives or chemical fillers.
3. HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)
This advanced test analyzes malic acid levels — a naturally occurring compound in aloe vera — and separates them from fumaric and lactic acids, which form when malic acid degrades. The results reflect the processing quality and nutrient retention of the sample, directly linked to its effectiveness and health value.
